Our Journey

Travel has always been at the heart of our lives, but our journey into vegan travel began with a simple question.

After Shreya adopted a vegan lifestyle in 2015, she was often asked, “How do you travel as a vegan?” That question inspired the creation of Travel With Shreya, where we began sharing our travel experiences, practical advice and vegan food discoveries from around the world.

We met in December 2016 and quickly realised we shared the same passion for exploring the world. Richie embraced a vegan lifestyle in 2017, and together we founded Travel Love Repeat, creating personalised holidays and small-group adventures to destinations we had personally explored.

As our philosophy evolved, so did our company. Inspired by the African concept of Ubuntu “I am because we are” — we reimagined our brand as Ubuntu Vegan Travel, reflecting our belief that travel is about connection, kindness and unforgettable shared experiences.

Today, we still create every itinerary the same way we always have: by travelling there first. We experience the destination ourselves, carefully selecting the hotels, restaurants and activities before sharing them with our guests. We don’t create tours from brochures — we create them from our own journeys.

Why Ubuntu Vegan Travel?

When we first started travelling as vegans, we kept hearing the same thing:

“There just isn’t enough vegan food there.”

But every time we visited those very same destinations, we had a completely different experience. We found incredible local vegan dishes, family-run restaurants, hidden cafés and authentic flavours that many travellers simply never discovered.

That’s when we realised the problem wasn’t a lack of vegan food — it was a lack of local knowledge.

So we decided to bridge that gap.

Before we offer any destination, we travel there ourselves. We spend countless hours researching, exploring neighbourhoods, tasting local cuisine and carefully selecting the hotels, restaurants and experiences that truly represent the destination. We don’t follow guidebooks — we create our own.

We also believe travel should immerse you in the culture of the place you’re visiting. Too often, we saw travellers eating the same familiar meals throughout their trip because they felt like the safest option. While there’s always room for comfort, we believe one of the greatest joys of travel is discovering authentic local cuisine.

That’s why our tours celebrate regional vegan specialities, while still offering Indian and other international options to provide balance throughout the journey.

To date, we’re proud to say that none of our guests has ever complained about the vegan food on one of our tours.

We don’t just plan vegan holidays — we curate authentic travel experiences that engage all five senses.
